Cooking for the Maids

This is Maid Mei here! ( -w- )/~ Hello everynyan,~~~ Today marks the start of my first post about the food I have made for our hardworking maids!!! For those of you who didn't know, our maids work really hard each week to practice their dances to bring the best performances to the audience! <3 After a hard days work practicing, they are often hungry. As they practice I make them some food to help them replenish their energy. \(-`w -) /

Take a look at the ingredients I bought today. Can you guess what I am cooking?

I made a homey Sukiyaki! (^w^) You can never go wrong with soup based dishes as they are super easy to make. For our soup base, we mixed mirin, sake, sugar, soy sauce, hondashi, and water. DO NOT forget the sake. I tried making it without it and it's not the the same. Alcohol super important for this dish. hehe >:)

To give different textures and make the pot more visually appealing, I thiny sliced the potatoes, halved the daikon, and sliced the onion into quarters. I cut the carrots into stars just cuz it's cuter that way. Dun worry, no waste in this household. I will be using the left over scraps to make curry.

Many of our maids like eating mushrooms so I had to include shitake and enoki. I didn't know how to make the X's on top of the shitake muhrooms, but Toki came in with her amazing knife skills and saved the day. After cutting the tofu into cubes, I put all the ingredients into the pot to boil. After waiting a few minutes, it's done!! Viola~ and bon appetit. The maids finished emptied out the pot and enjoyed the sukiyaki very much! What should we cook next week?

**We cooked the meat in a separate pan as some of maids are pescatarian/vegetarian.

I got guessed that it was soup right, just not the right kind of soup xD

That looks very delicious.
