Abso's 1yr. Retrospective! (thnx 4 evrythn!)

(thnx 4 evrythn!)
(thnx 4 evrythn!)

Hello, everyone☆ i know,i know highly anticipated and a littttlllleee late,, but i thought very hard about the things i wanted to say(also if i was home writing this you wouldnt be able to see me at the cafe, right?)... firstly, thank you all for making my first year of serving so fulfilling. truly, there was never a dull moment wwww and even when things were overwhelming or difficult, i can look back with fondness. One year flew by so quickly, it felt like just a blink of an eye... i remember how nervous i was when i started, how i felt like i needed to be a perfectly cookie cut model maid and how i overcame that feeling and found myself again, so much has changed since june 2025... it really has been a journey of self discovery haha, ill tell you about it later maybe. Anyway, lets start with questions (i did condense a few that were the same question)!! Q & A Q.who else is in your generation?

A. Im part of Gen 5 which has Lulu & Mikan, and of course myself. Also eufy (robot)

Q.what influenced you to become a maid? 0: do you see yourself still being a maid in the future long term?

A. Interestingly enough, i dont have any big ambitions for myself, i dont particularly want to be an idol or really popular or anything like that. I wanted to join because i really believe in Asayoru's vision, im a big lover of subculture and third spaces and working at the cafe is just both of those things (also i get paid! so swag!). im very happy to be able to express myself and talk with people while also having the satisfaction of doing work, such a combination is hard to find these days. i have a lot of things in my pocket for later, so you will be seeing me for a good while☆

Q. How do you manage keeping a maid persona and then your usual self? Is it just like improv or acting? :^;" -from a maid to be (hopefully!)

A. I don't really feel like i have a maid persona, im just myself but cranked up to like 120%. Of course im still working so there's things i cant really do or say, but thats like any job www. Maid abso is efficient, decently polite, and eccentric. Off duty abso is eccentric and says bad words www, not all that much of a difference. I suppose though, theres a level of acting/improv involved.. some situations require you to push to 150% to give the best service possible but knowing yourself, i believe , is the most secure foundation you can build. i think the more you think of it as acting or playing a character, the more you overthink and psych yourself out and produce a version of yourself you're going to be unhappy with... your natural charm is best! i think people shine their brightest when theyre genuinely passionate. Q.what grand machinations are in the works for your future events you plan to host, if any ?

A. mmmm those are pretty far ahead but i have already thought about and partially planned a lot of things! Can't spoil anything though of course, i can only pray for your wallet 🙏🏻 more than making money, i hope the stuff i cook up is entertaining and fun for everyone, having fun matters a lot to me!

Q.What advice would you give to someone who may want to become a maid someday? >.<

A. I guess the advice i usually tend to give is to go forward with clarity. When i started i had a general idea of what i wanted to accomplish, what i was doing it for, and how i could go about doing those things. It doesn't even need to be anything super grand or anything like that, even something like "i like doing this" might be enough. biggest thing though is understanding that, even with all the frills and stuff, you're still applying for a job at the end of the day. so make sure youre doing the base job well! it's a lot to think about and find balance in, but your serving is the bulk of it and the rest of it changes with you overtime. Personally, i worry about serving all the time, the rest of the stuff comes later! A maids duty?? Serve! Also, understanding the level of commitment it takes to be successful is really important, these girls never look like they break a sweat but they put in sooooo much extra work! work hard! Have fun! Maybe I'm not the best example though,, im told i lock in too hard... the best way to learn is by just doing it tbh,, and the second best way is observation! so come home lots, okay??

Q.oh!! + have you ever felt frustrated or had a negative experience with this line of work? are there customers that have ever made you feel like being a maid isn't worth it and vice versa?/ how do you deal with selfdoubt?

A. Ahhh yeah this happens with any job though, right? Things don't go the way you'd want them to, things out of your control and such. I try to just frame it in my mind as " im frustrated because i care a lot" . Thankfully, our goshujin and ojousamas are for the most part very kind and respectful! So i haven't had any single customer demoralize me to the point of contemplating my career path yet. I think i really just like working too much to let someone dampen me like that, when i get sad or whatever i just remember that there are people that really look forward to seeing me again! it keeps me motivated when things get hard for me to handle,, a lot of gratification comes from within, you determine how you're gonna feel at the end of the day, it's hard to learn and harder to put into practice but if you work on it consistently it's not impossible! when i feel like im getting caught up in other stuff too much i try to step back and focus on myself, how do i get even better? how do i become even more than i already am? how much further can i push? how do i become undeniable? the motivation helps me push through doubt, as saki hanami said "i dont want your defeat, trying to beat myself." i dont bother comparing myself to others, its apples and hand-grenades or whatever. being a maid is both easier and harder than i originally thought it would be but the challenges and demand for adaptability make the results so rewarding. Im of the belief that no job that's worth doing is easy, and with something so personal (if you really think about it) a lot of these wars are fought within yourself, it's important to remember what your personal goals are and that at the end of the day some people aren't going to understand you, some people arent gonna like you, and thats perfectly fine. The less you worry about stuff like that, the more peaceful your life will be, speaking from my own experience anyway...

Q.has becoming a maid affected your life for the better/ worse ?

A. For the better for sure! I get to have fun very often because of the things the cafe gets up to. In this single year, i got to see so many talented idols ( INCLUDING PPPP WHO I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE IN MY LIFE) in our little home, i got to have my own Maid With Love and share drinks with everyone , i got to ring in the new year together, so much has happened! So much will happen. Soon. it's a lot of work but i think its worth all the blood and tears, i feel like ive had a lot of thankless jobs in the past... or been put in positions where i get no recognition for the things I contribute and stuff, most of the time it doesn't bother me bc im a support player in the grand scheme of things... but ill admit it is nice to have people know me, i feel like im making my own small mark here. Q. You should definitely turn it into a blog post on the website. What made you wanted to do blog posts on the website?

A. I was already planning on doing a blog post. I am always two steps ahead....except for when im not www. Mostly, i saw an avenue for me to do something so i just went for it! Im of the mind that these digital momentos are very important to the community as a whole, both for us maids, our customers now, and those we have yet to meet. Archiving and documentation are very important

Q.When you Ivl up to the big bow, do you have to pick from a lineup or can you get a custom color

A. all maids already have a color regardless of status, we pick our colors ourselves. trainees have a soft baby yellow bow and when you get your official one, it's in your color. My color is ultraviolet/indigo, you can find this information on the maid profiles.

Q. Do you have favorite regulars?

A. who knows.

Q. How do you stay consistent and improve your art.

A. ahhh well i feel like im not an artist in the traditional sense, but having people around that genuinely enjoy the things you do really helps. I try my best to put myself into all the things i do, my goal i guess is to have whatever it is i make instantly remind the person of me, whatever it may be. my strength , in my own opinion, is my eye for aesthetics and composition. i know what i like and i consume a lot of media! Besides crafting, styling, etc. I think maiding is in itself it's own art. A busy but fun day will have you whirling around like crazy, doing this and that.. but its really satisfying to be like fully in a flow state. Im always really happy when i served efficiently still managed to turn in my chekis in a timely manner and squeeze in some good conversation. Those really good days validate to me that im very capable. having small attainable goals is important!

Q. Now that you have been maiding for about a year, do you feel like it has taught you any life lessons?

A. Id say so, i think theres a distinct possibility that the average person is much less evil than id thought before. Like i said , so many people i met are very kind and supportive of us. Even first time guests can see a lot of magic in Asayoru and come to value our special little corner of the world. Such an environment pushes me to break more out of my shell, push myself harder, try new things. At the same time though, the opposite is true.... whatever that means. Q. how does it feel seeing the next generation of maids and being the one to train them ?

A. Mmm i dont particularly train anyone wwww its like an osmosis thing. I dont think of it as training so much as coworking with some occasional guidance. Seeing new people is always exciting, im always super interested in what people think about, what their goals are, what themes they like, what theyre passionate about. Working at a cafe like this means youre a bit eccentric by default so everyone is always super interesting. I do feel kinda bad though, this summer felt kind of insane... newbies were truly trial by fire..

Q.Has this been everything you thought it would be?

A. Id say in most ways, yes. but bear in mind i came in with tempered expectations. Generally, i feel like its better to set everything up for yourself very manageably. On one had i guess you could say im not particularly ambitious but who knows. I dont know what i thought it would be, i was satisfied just getting to see my friends more often.

Thank yall for your riveting questions, this wasn't all of them but they were the most relevant ones... i feel like even in the couple months i delayed this blog, my answers changed a little every week. In the bigger picture of the cafe as a whole, things are constantly changing, something is always happening, and with that so does my perspective. I hope all you prospective maids out there gather your courage and give it a try some day, the road ahead is not all sunshine and rainbows but i believe in you to push yourself! Really though, having ruminated on it for a while, i find myself struck sometimes by a deep feeling of gratefulness. thank you all for your support so far, ive done so much and so little at the same time it feels like wwww i hope to keep serving you all to the very best of my abilities for more years to come. how much can i really let myself despair when ya'll're out there somewhere thinking I'm the coolest person in the world...i hope every year i more to talk about and share in these recaps, it is a sincere wish of mine to keep striving for more and living whatever way i want bc i know thats what you guys want for me too wwwww seriously though, the most i can do is give you a nudge onto that path, it is by your own desires and power that you can go out there and do your most, no matter what that may look like for you. even a small step is a step, afterall.  real talk... im always very moved when people come in specifically bc they like me, even more so when you guys tell me the stuff i do/talk about has impacted you in some way. hearing about your adventures, your desires to grow and try new things, braving the outside world , and your efforts to do better for yourself make me so happy. Please, go live your life to the fullest, i'll be waiting to hear all about it when you come home.

cheers! maid abso
